## Which shape is an ellipse?

An ellipse is a circle that has been stretched in one direction, to give it the shape of an oval. But not every oval is an ellipse, as shown in Figure 1, below. There is a specific kind of stretching that turns a circle into an ellipse, as we shall see on the next page.

## What is drawing ellipse?

An ellipse is an altered circle, and there are no points or edges. A circle is a continuous curved line. An ellipse is just a circle that appears different due to the angle in which you are viewing it. You can see how the lines divide the ellipses into two halves. If folded, the halves will match.

## How do you cut a perfect oval in wood?

Thread the blade of the jigsaw into one of the holes and start the saw, making sure that the blade is parallel to the outline of the oval. Cut along the inside of the oval line, staying as close to the line as possible. Cut around until you have completed the oval and it drops out.

## Is an egg an oval?

Eggs are neither circular nor elliptical. Eggs are oval. If you observe an egg closely, the distance from the center is not a fixed circle.
