What do you use to draw on fabric?
For surface design in pen, I like Jacquard’s Tee Juice fabric pens, which come in three tip sizes, many colors, and are washable and fade-resistant. You can draw on anything from canvas to knit, but it’s best done on fabrics with smooth, flat surfaces. Avoid loosely woven, textured fabrics.
What is the best fabric to draw on?
Purists say the best fabric for painting on is 100% cotton with a tight weave (an off-white or cream fabric will dull the paint slightly). But good results can be obtained with rayons and silks too.
Can you draw on fabric with pencil?

This method allows you to see what the color Is going to be right away and the color is usually very strong. The pencil itself can also be dipped into the medium and then drawn onto the fabric.
How do you shade evenly with a pencil?
Start with a light pressure and increase pressure of application as you proceed in overlapping pencil strokes. Apply strokes in various overlapping angles and strokes. By overlapping at several different angles and directions the resulting shade will be more even with greater luminosity.
